Janmark’s overtime goal gives Stars fourth win in a row
Mattias Janmark scored at 3:49 of overtime to give the Dallas Stars a 3-2 win over the Nashville Predators on Monday night.
Cody Eakin and Ales Hemsky also scored for Dallas.
In overtime, Tyler Seguin’s shot from the left side was stopped by Nashville goaltender Carter Hutton. Seguin then poked the rebound over to the right side, where Janmark had an easy tap-in for the winner.
Craig Smith and Filip Forsberg scored for Nashville. The Predators have lost three of four.
Smith opened the scoring at 11:32 of the first period after collecting the rebound of Mattias Ekholm’s shot from the left side and beating Dallas goaltender Antti Niemi with a wrist shot on the stick side. The score broke a seven-game goalless stretch for Smith.
Niemi finished with 24 saves.
Eakin tied the game at 1 at 5:42 of the second.
With Nashville on a power play, Jamie Benn sent a pass from the left side to Eakin at the right faceoff dot, where he beat Hutton with a one-timer.
With the assist, Benn extended his point-scoring streak to five games.
The Stars have scored eight short-handed goals this season.
The Stars, who share the Central Division lead with the Chicago Blackhawks, continue their three-game road trip on Tuesday with a stop in St. Louis. They also play at Arizona on Thursday.
