Dallas Stars one win away from eliminating Predators
The Dallas Stars are a win away from advancing to the second round of the NHL playoffs after taking Game 5 against the Nashville Predators 5-3 Saturday afternoon.
The Stars can take the series with a Game 6 win Monday night at American Airlines Center in Dallas. A start time has yet to be announced. The winner of the Stars-Predators series advances to play the winner of the series between the St. Louis Blues and Winnipeg Jets. The Blues lead that series 3-2. If the Stars advance, they would start the next series on the road.
“We came in here with a workmanlike attitude and got the job done,” said Jamie Benn, who had three points in the game. “It takes four to win. We have one more to go.”
Jason Dickinson and Alexander Radulov each had two goals. Radulov scored twice in the second period to give Dallas a 3-1 lead. Nashville pulled to within 3-2 with Ryan Johansen’s goal, but Tyler Seguin pushed it back to a two-goal lead with four minutes left in the second period.
Both teams scored a goal early in the third period. Neither team scored on a power play. The Stars were 0 for 2, and the Predators were 0 for 1.
The Stars last won a playoff series in 2016, when they beat the Minnesota Wild in six games in the first round.
