3 Things to watch: Dallas Stars vs. Nashville Predators, Game 2
The Dallas Stars have a chance to go up 2-0 in their best-of-seven playoff series against the Nashville Predators Saturday at 5 p.m.
After taking Game 1 3-2 on Wednesday at Bridgestone Arena in Nashville the Stars could take command of the series before it moves to American Airlines Center on Monday night for Game 3.
Three things to watch in Game 2:
Stay on the offensive
The Stars won Game 1 by keeping the puck in the Predators side of the rink for much of the second and third periods.
“Saturday’s going to be big,” Stars forward Jason Dickinson said. “They’re going to want to come out and make a statement, try to take back some of the momentum we may have created, and it’s our job to just go out there, keep plying our game and stick to our system.”
More Miro
Rookie defenseman Miro Heiskanen looked like a playoff veteran in Game 1. He scored a goal and assisted another in his first-career playoff experience.
“He plays like he’s been in the League for 10 years,” Stars goalie Ben Bishop said. “I guess I would say I’m not surprised anymore, but it’s truly impressive. He just goes about his business quietly and efficiently … this guy’s going to be a star in this league for a long time.”
Bow to Bishop
Goalie Ben Bishop had 30 saves in Game 1, including 11 of 12 in the first period in Game 1. His hot hand could be crucial for a long Stars’ run in the playoffs.
Bishop broke Marty Turco’s regular-season franchise record for best save percentage of .932 in 2002-03.
“That first period, they controlled every part of the game except the one power-play we had, and Bishop kept us in it,” Stars coach Jim Montgomery said.
