About the Stars: Forward Ales Hemsky will miss five to six months after surgery for a hip injury that GM Jim Nill said was sustained while playing for the Czech Republic during the World Cup of Hockey, The Associated Press reported Monday. Hemsky, who previously was on injured reserve, played only one game this season. Injuries have taken a toll on the Stars. Forward Patrick Sharp (concussion-like symptoms), center Cody Eakin (knee) and forward Mattias Janmark (knee) remain on injured reserve. Jamie Benn has only one goal in five games while dealing with an unspecified ailment. ... Dallas has lost four of five and is coming off Saturday’s 4-0 loss at Minnesota. ... The Stars, wrapping up a three-game road trip, play 16 games in 30 days in November.
About the Blue Jackets: Columbus blanked Anaheim 4-0 on Friday to conclude a 2-1-1 road trip that started with a 3-0 win in Dallas on Oct. 22. Goalie Sergei Bobrovsky stopped 35 shots Friday to post his second shutout this season. ... Defenseman Ryan Murray, who has been out with an upper-body injury, practiced Monday and is expected to return Tuesday, Columbus’ website reported. ... The Blue Jackets activated goalie Joonas Korpisalo from injured reserve and assigned him to Cleveland of the American Hockey League.
