Listen up! NBC releases new opening theme music for Sunday Night Football
The sounds of football are upon us.
NBC has released the new theme music for Sunday Night Football.
Recording artist Carrie Underwood will again perform the song, “Oh, Sunday Night,” and it can be heard in its entirety beginning today.
The opening makes its television debut on Sept. 11 before the New England vs. Arizona game.
Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Dez Bryant is among the players featured in the opening.
Bryant will be joined by Odell Beckham Jr., Antonio Brown, Kam Chancellor, Khalil Mack, Eli Manning, Tyrann Mathieu, Clay Matthews, Von Miller, Patrick Peterson, Earl Thomas and Russell Wilson.
“Oh, Sunday Night” is set to the music of “Somethin’ Bad,” a chart-topping duet from Underwood and Miranda Lambert which was released in 2014. Underwood worked with the songwriters of “Somethin’ Bad”– Chris DeStefano, Brett James, and Priscilla Renea - to rewrite the lyrics for Sunday Night Football.
The previous theme song, “Waiting All Day for Sunday Night,” was used from 2006-15 and was set to Joan Jett’s “I Hate Myself for Loving You.”
Underwood is in her fourth season performing the SNF open for NBC.
