The Dallas Cowboys will have a decal on their helmets during the preseason and perhaps the regular season to showcase unity and support of the Dallas Police Department.

Earlier this month, five police officers were killed and nine others wounded by a sniper at the end of a rally against police violence in downtown Dallas.

The decal has a circle with a star in the middle with the words “arm in arm” written across the top.

The Cowboys, who are in Oxnard, Calif., for training camp, invited Dallas Mayor Mike Rawlings, Dallas Police Chief David Brown, family members of the slain officers and others to Saturday’s practice. They walked on the field together with the team in a show of unity.

Among the group was the family of Patrick Zamarripa, one of the fallen Dallas officers and a graduate of Paschal High School. They were Zamarripa’s mother Valerie, sister Laura Sipolo and brother-in-law Jessie Reyes.

Saturday was the first full-roster practice.
