Defensive end Greg Hardy is getting into the Christmas spirit with his first charity event since joining the Dallas Cowboys.

Hardy is teaming with C&B National Sports Marketing to present “Greg Hardy’s We Live to Give Winter Coat Giveway” set for Saturday, Dec. 19, at 10 a.m. at the Univeristy of North Texas at Dallas, 7300 University Hills Blvd.

Hardy has been the subject of a number of negative headlines since joining the Cowboys, stemming largely from a domestic violence incident in May of 2014 when he was a member of the Carolina Panthers.

Charges were eventually dropped, but he was suspended for the first four games by the NFL for violating the league’s personal conduct policy.

Hardy has been admonished at least four times by the Cowboys for inappropriate tweets or comments to the media since joining the team last March.

But the team has stood by him because of his work ethic on the field and willingness to seek help and seemingly try to change. Evidence of that came last Thursday when he disassociated himself with a “Welcome To Dallas Party” following the Thanksgiving Day game against the Carolina Panthers, his former team.

Hardy has been looking for a way to give back and make an impact in the community and has chosen the Winter Coat Giveaway to be his inaugural attempt.

Hardy will give coats to selected foster kids connected through the Faith Works Foster Agency. Additional coats will be given away to the public. He will also sign autographs at the event.
