Cowboys’ Larry Allen, rodeo star Trevor Brazile voted to Texas Sports Hall of Fame

Pro Football Hall of Famer and former Dallas Cowboys lineman Larry Allen and rodeo superstar Trevor Brazile head the Texas Sports Hall of Fame Class of 2016, the TSHOF announced Tuesday.

Joining Allen and Brazile in the eight-member class will be former University of Texas football coach Fred Akers, former Chicago/St. Louis Cardinals All-Pro lineman Ken Gray, former Texas A&M defensive end Jacob Green, former New York Yankees pitcher Andy Pettitte, former Negro League pitcher “Smokey” Joe Williams (deceased) and former University of Texas guard T.J. Ford.

Allen was one of the most dominating offensive linemen in NFL history. He was inducted into the Cowboys’ Ring of Honor in 2011 and the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2013. He helped lead the Cowboys to the Super Bowl XXX title.

Brazile has won 21 world championships, including 12 all-around titles. He’s also won five steer roping world titles, three tie-down roping world championships and a team roping heeling gold buckle.

The banquet will be held Tuesday, Feb. 2 at 6 p.m. at the Waco Convention Center. There will be a reception at the Texas Sports Hall of Fame in Waco before the banquet, beginning at 4 p.m.

Combination reception/banquet tickets are $200 each or $1,400 for a reserved table of 8. Banquet-only tickets can be purchased for $75 each or a table of eight can be reserved for $600. Tickets can be ordered by calling the museum at 800-567-9561 or online at www.tshof.org/buy-tickets.
