Baby comes at right time for Matt Cassel
There were only two things that worried Matt Cassel heading into his first start as Dallas Cowboys quarterback in Sunday’s game against the New York Giants: his pregnant wife Lauren and the imminent birth of their fourth child.
As luck would have it, the bye weekend came at the right time for Cassel.
Clayton Cassel was born on Saturday, allowing the happy quarterback to be present for the birth, get in a little extra work for the Giants game and avoid any possibly conflict or forcing his wife to induce the baby.
“He had a huge smile on his face and was really pleased with the timing of everything,” coach Jason Garrett said. “Worked out well. They did not induce, but I think they suggested firmly, and it all worked out.”
