Should the Cowboys win if they score 28 points? Jason Garrett’s answer ...
If the offense puts up 28 points without the starting quarterback or top playmaker on the field, the Cowboys should win the game. Right?
“That’s really not the way we look at it,” Garrett said. “You have to do what you need to do in all three phases of your team to win the game.”
But Garrett made it clear that the defense didn’t play well enough. They let a backup running back, Devonta Freeman, gash them for 141 yards on 30 carries. And then they let a guy who was demanding plenty of attention, Julio Jones, go off for 12 catches and 164 yards.
Not a winning defensive formula.
Cornerback Brandon Carr described it as the unit not having enough “HAH!”
“We didn’t have that snap to us in the second half,” Carr said. “Like I said, we allowed their guys to get some plays of their own and that provides momentum for their whole team.”
