Rating Tony Romo’s come-from-behind victories
Of Tony Romo’s 76 regular-season victories as Cowboys starting quarterback, almost one-third have seen him bring the Cowboys from behind in the fourth quarter or win in overtime. Counting the postseason, Romo has fashioned 25 such Ws, including Sunday night’s thrilling 27-26 season-opening defeat of the New York Giants. Where does that one rank among his 25? Well, the suspense won’t last long in this list of Romo’s top 10 come-from-behind/OT victories:

Sept. 13, 2015
The Cowboys trailed the season opener 23-13 midway through the fourth quarter when a Romo-led drive culminated with a 1-yard touchdown pass to Jason Witten. New York upped its lead to 26-20 with 1:34 left. With no timeouts, Romo and the Cowboys took over at their 28. Nov. 23, 2014
Romo had thrown two third-quarter touchdown passes that erased an 11-point deficit. The Giants retook the lead at 28-24 with 3:00 remaining on a short touchdown pass. But behind Romo, the Cowboys drove 80 yards in seven plays with the quarterback going 6-for-6 for 68 yards. Dez Bryant caught three of those passes, including the game-winning 13-yard reception at the 1:01 mark that was upheld by replay review.

Dec. 9, 2007
With 2:15 left, the Cowboys’ final drive began at their own 17. Romo’s passing accounted for all the yards. A fourth-down conversion with under a minute to play moved Dallas across midfield. After spiking the ball on the next play, Romo completed passes on the next four snaps. The winning score came on a 16-yard pass to Witten with 18 seconds left. The Cowboys’ victory clinched the NFC East title.
4 Cowboys 27, at 49ers 24
Sept. 18, 2011
The Cowboys scored 10 points in the final 6:55 to force overtime. A 25-yard Romo-to-Miles-Austin pass made the score 24-21, and then the Cowboys tied the score when Romo — playing with a fractured rib suffered earlier in the game — marched the offense from its 26 to the San Francisco 30, setting up Dan Bailey’s 48-yard kick on the final play of regulation. In overtime, the defense forced the 49ers to punt, and Romo hit Jesse Holley for a 77-yard pass. On the next play, Bailey kicked a game-winning 19-yarder.
5 Cowboys 24, at Redskins 23
Dec. 22, 2013
The Cowboys needed to win to set up a final-week showdown with Philadelphia for the division title, and the Redskins led 23-14 in the fourth quarter. A Bailey field goal made the score 23-17, and the Cowboys got the ball next at their 13 with 3:39 left. Sparked by a 51-yard pass to Terrance Williams, the Cowboys reached the Washington 1 at the two-minute warning. But the Cowboys wound up facing a fourth-and-goal from the 10. Romo, limping and with a hurt back, rolled away from pressure and threw to DeMarco Murray for the game-winning touchdown with 1:08 left.

Jan. 4, 2014
In the only postseason come-from-behind win led by Romo, the Cowboys erased a 20-7 second-half deficit in the wild-card round. The winning score came with 2:32 left, when Romo bought time in the pocket before finding Williams in the back of the end zone for an 8-yard score. Romo passed for a playoff career high of 293 yards. This is the game most remembered for the reversed pass interference call against the Cowboys on the Lions’ possession right before Dallas’ winning drive.
7 Cowboys 25, at Bills 24
Oct. 8, 2007
The Cowboys scored a touchdown and kicked two field goals in the fourth quarter to come back from a 24-13 deficit on Monday Night Football. Romo’s 4-yard pass to Patrick Crayton with 20 seconds to play capped a 12-play, 80-yard drive and pulled the Cowboys to within 24-22. Following a successful onside kick, a 22-yard completion to Terrell Owens was overturned, but Romo — who had thrown five interceptions and lost a fumble — completed two short passes to set up Nick Folk’s 53-yard field goal as time expired.

Nov. 24, 2011
On Thanksgiving Day, Romo connected with Laurent Robinson early in the fourth quarter to give the Cowboys a 17-16 lead. Miami retook the lead midway through the period on a field goal. Dallas gained only one first down on its next drive, but the defense forced a punt that gave the offense the ball at the Dallas 36 with 2:59 left. Behind the passing of Romo and the running of DeMarco Murray, the Cowboys drove deep into Miami territory, where they milked the clock before Bailey made a 28-yard field goal on the final play.

Nov. 3, 2013
The Cowboys watched a 20-10 third-quarter lead disappear into a 23-20 deficit with less than six minutes remaining. Romo was intercepted on the ensuing possession, and the Cowboys didn’t get the ball back until 2:44 remained, at their own 10. Dallas methodically drove down the field, with only one play covering more than 18 yards. Romo, who threw for 337 yards, completed seven of nine passes on the drive, with the game-winner coming on a 7-yard pass to Dwayne Harris with 35 seconds to play.

Dec. 9, 2012
On the day after practice squad linebacker Jerry Brown died in a car accident, Romo threw a 27-yard touchdown pass to Bryant with 6:35 left, and then led a 12-play, 50-yard drive to the Cincinnati 22. From there, Bailey made a 40-yard field goal as time expired. The victory kept the 7-6 Cowboys in the playoff race.
