Dallas Cowboys defensive lineman Charles Snowden has been suspended for the first three games of the 2026 season, the NFL announced Tuesday afternoon.
The suspension stems from a December 2024 arrest for driving under the influence while he was a member of the Las Vegas Raiders.
Here was the statement from the NFL given on the league wire on Tuesday:
“Dallas’ Charles Snowden, DE, Virginia, has been suspended by the Commissioner for the first three games of the 2026 season. He is eligible to participate in all preseason activities, including games; his suspension will take effect as of the roster reduction to 53 players.”
Police in Las Vegas arrested Snowden in December 2024 after finding him asleep in a running SUV, documents said. Snowden was in the driver’s seat of a Jeep Grand Cherokee that “had almost rolled off a four-foot retaining wall” near Rainbow Boulevard and Sunset Road, according to a police report obtained by 8 News Now in Las Vegas.
His attorneys submitted a no-contest plea, which ultimately lowered the charge to reckless driving.
Snowden was signed by the Cowboys after a successful tryout with the team during mandatory minicamp last month. In his last two seasons with the Raiders, he has combined for 4.5 sacks and 67 tackles as a rotational pass rusher. In Dallas, his veteran experience had him looking at a bottom-of-the-roster placement if everything went well at training camp, but his now three-game suspension could set back his chances.
