Dallas Cowboys to hold joint practices with Saints, Rams during training camp
Earlier this week, the NFL announced that the Dallas Cowboys will hold joint practices with the Los Angeles Rams and New Orleans Saints while the team is in Oxnard, Calif., for training camp in August. The practice with the Rams will take place on Aug. 11 at the Rams’ practice facility in Woodland Hills, and the practice with the Saints will take place on Aug. 18 at the Cowboys’ training camp in Oxnard.
It will be the third consecutive year that the Cowboys will hold a joint practice during training camp, as they scrimmaged with the Los Angeles Chargers in 2024 and the Rams in 2025. The 2026 edition will be the first time the Cowboys have left Oxnard for a joint practice since 2022.
The practices are sandwiched between the Cowboys’ three-game preseason schedule, as they will take on the Seattle Seahawks on Aug. 15 on the road, the Arizona Cardinals on Aug. 22 on the road and the Saints back at AT&T Stadium in Arlington on Aug. 28.
The practices, according to head coach Brian Schottenheimer, are a result of the connections he has with Rams coach Sean McVay and Saints coach Kellen Moore.
“I think that’s because of the relationship we’ve built with Sean and his staff,” Schottenheimer said. “Obviously, we know Kellen, but we had a couple of other options we were looking at. We want to go compete against some of the better teams and better players. You guys know our stance for playing starters in the preseason, so we want to get that work done.”
The Cowboys will report to training camp in Southern California on July 28, and will host 13 practices open to the public. It is the franchise’s 20th year in Oxnard for training camp and the 47th in Southern California.
The team will return to Dallas on Aug. 27 and will hold select open practices at The Star in Frisco. Those fan opportunities to see the Cowboys will be determined at a later date.
