Cowboys’ Jake Ferguson added to Pro Bowl roster after George Kittle injury
Dallas Cowboys tight end Jake Ferguson has been added to the NFC Pro Bowl roster for the 2026 event, the league announced on Wednesday. After San Francisco 49ers tight end George Kittle tore his achilles in the playoffs, Ferguson was elevated from his alternate spot to star in the game alongside Arizona Cardinals tight end Trey McBride. It is Ferguson’s second career Pro Bowl honor.
After a down year in 2024 that saw Ferguson not haul in a touchdown across 14 games, he responded with a career-high 82 receptions and eight touchdown grabs to go along with 600 receiving yards. Among all tight ends in the NFL, Ferguson finished with the third-most receptions behind McBride (126) and Atlanta Falcons tight end Kyle Pitts (88).
Ferguson becomes the fourth tight end in franchise history with multiple Pro Bowl honors, joining Jason Witten (11), Jay Novacek (5) and Billy Joe Dupree (3).
Before the season, Ferguson signed a four-year, $50 million contract extension that made him the seventh-highest paid tight end in the NFL.
“I love this game,” Ferguson said late in the season at his locker. “This game has given me so much. I’m loyal to this game ... Every single opportunity that I get to play it, I’ll take that.”
He joins five other members of the Dallas Cowboys on the Pro Bowl roster, including quarterback Dak Prescott, defensive tackle Quinnen Williams, wide receiver George Pickens, kicker Brandon Aubrey and offensive lineman Tyler Smith. The Cowboys are now tied for the most Pro Bowl players in 2025 across the NFL with the San Francisco 49ers, Seattle Seahawks, Denver Broncos and Baltimore Ravens.
The 2026 Pro Bowl Games will take place in San Francisco during Super Bowl LX week with a variety of skill competitions, including the annual NFC vs. AFC flag football game on Feb. 3.
Postseason award finalists are expected to be released this week by the NFL. Prescott is expected to be a finalist for Comeback Player of the Year, and Pickens could sneak onto the finalists list for Offensive Player of the Year. Outside chances of other finalists could include Prescott for MVP and defensive end Donovan Ezeiruaku for Defensive Rookie of the Year.
