Cowboys’ Jerry Jones wants sexual assault case to ‘move on down the road’

A lawsuit in Dallas County accusing Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones of sexual assault in 2018 will go to trial in 2026 after a summary judgement request by Jones was denied earlier this week, according to court records.

In 2020, an anonymous woman claimed Jones kissed and groped her without consent at an afterparty for a Cowboys game against the New York Giants in 2018. A judge had previously dismissed the case after the plaintiff failed to provide information earlier in the process, but in 2023, the Texas Supreme Court allowed it to move forward to trial.

Speaking on his weekly radio show on 105.3 The Fan, Jones expressed some aggravation about the case and its long-awaited conclusion.

“Well, I think we’re into this seven years,” Jones said. “It’s the system, but it’s been there for seven years. That’s all that I can comment about it, but It’s the same one that’s been around for a long time, and I’ve allegedly, when I was taking a picture with her after the New York Giants game seven years ago, allegedly kissed her. And of course, I don’t remember that or deny that. There’s no pictures, there’s no witnesses, in my view, and this thing needs to move on down the road.”

Jones then went into detail about his relation to the plaintiff in the case and that he sees it as a money grab after a routine interaction that happened after the game.

“I’m not going to complain about the system that we have in America,” he said. “It’s flawed, but it’s the best there is in the world. You just see where it goes from here. She actually is the godmother, or a relationship, that’s how she got invited to the party after the game against the Giants. She was there along with several hundred other people. It just is a case of trying to, in my mind, get money that you don’t deserve.”

The trial is set to begin on July 20, 2026, in Dallas County.
