Dallas Cowboys players post in support of Micah Parsons after trade request

Dallas Cowboys edge Micah Parsons requested a trade Friday, citing a lack of movement on a contract extension. He made the request in a post on social media site X (formerly Twitter). After his post, several players came out in support of Parsons with posts of their own.

DeMarvion Overshown and Juanyeh Thomas posted new profile pictures of, or including, Parsons. CeeDee Lamb took it a step further with a tweet deriding the pomp and circumstance surrounding the negotiations and imploring the Cowboys to sign Parsons.

Lamb had a similar experience last year while working on a contract extension with the Cowboys that, once signed, made him one of the highest-paid wide receivers in the league.

Unlike Parsons, Lamb held out of Cowboys training camp until he could agree with the franchise on a contract.

Parsons also got support from ex-Cowboys player Dez Bryant who said he respected his stand.

“The business that you standing on is extremely amazing, brother. The guys like myself, the guys who came before you, we failed; we failed tremendously on standing our ground due to the lack of knowledge and lack of support entering a world that we was very unfamiliar with,” said Bryant, “Do what’s best for you. Do I want to see you with the star on your helmet? Yes, I do, I pray that Jerry [Jones] and them do what’s right, pay you what you deserve.”

While Parsons requested a trade, according to the Star-Telegram’s Nick Harris, the Cowboys are unlikely to deal the Penn State product.

If Parsons and the Cowboys come to terms, the contract will most likely make Parsons the highest-paid non-quarterback in NFL history, with the current mark being held by Pittsburgh Steelers OLB TJ Watt, who makes $41 million annually.
