Barry Church: Tony Romo has been picking us apart

. Tony Romo has been the No. 1 bright spot for the Dallas Cowboys in training camp.

The quarterback shows no signs of slowing down at age 35, and continues to garner praise. Days after owner Jerry Jones said this is the best he has seen Romo, safety Barry Church offered his thoughts on going against Romo on a daily basis.

“Romo is playing at the top of his game right now,” Church said. “He’s picking us apart and we just have to figure out a way to control him. As of right now, he’s playing at the top of his game.”

That’s good news for the Cowboys, of course. Romo is coming off a career year in which he led the league and established new franchise records with a 69.9 completion percentage and 113.2 quarterback rating.

Church took one swipe at Romo, though, on a goal-line play in which running back Joseph Randle jumped over the pile and crossed the plane before losing the ball.

Church scooped it up and started running the other way, with Romo making a light-hearted attempt to tackle him.

“There was no way in hell Romo was going to catch me over there,” Church said, smiling. “If he would have caught me, I would have never heard the end of it.”
