Dallas Cowboy Micah Parsons comments on 49ers free agency with key players departing
Free agency is in full swing in the NFL, and Dallas Cowboys star Micah Parsons commented on the San Francisco 49ers’ start to the playoffs, welcoming the team to reality.
Parsons commented on X, formerly Twitter, seemingly taking a jab at the team’s NFC division rival.
“No more rookie QBs lol welcome to reality!” said Parsons.
The post was made after the team had lost or cut multiple key players including Dre Greenlaw, Charvarius Ward, Javon Hargrave and Talanoa Hufanga among others.
Parson’s rookie quarterback comment seems to be regarding Brock Purdy. The Iowa state product is eligible for a contract extension and will become an unrestricted free agent after this season.
Purdy currently makes $5.4 million but could make around $50 million once he signs an extension. Some have cited that upcoming contract as a reason for the 49ers losing so many players as they no longer have the benefit of a cheap quarterback on a rookie contract.
At the NFL combine 49ers general manager John Lynch said the team needed to re-calibrate its spending while saying he was looking to extend Purdy and tight end George Kittle.
