Tony Romo sidelined with stye in left eye
Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo sat out Friday afternoon’s practice with a stye in his left eye.
Vice president Stephen Jones said Romo received treatment and the Cowboys will evaluate again on Saturday to see if he’s ready to go.
“It was to the point where it was bothering him and they just wanted to get it taken care of,” Jones said.
The stye was noticeable Thursday when Romo met with reporters, but it didn’t keep him out of the Cowboys’ first training camp practice. Romo also went through the walkthrough Friday morning before being noticeably absent for the afternoon session.
After his news conference Thursday, Romo joked about his eye saying he wore “too much makeup” for his DirecTV commercial in which he portrayed an “arts-and-craftsy” Tony Romo.
According to WebMD, a stye is “a small, painful lump on the inside or outside of the eyelid. It is actually an abscess filled with pus and is usually caused by a staphylococcus bacteria eye infection.”
Styes typically heal on their own in a few days, according to the website.
