Cowboys WR CeeDee Lamb misses practice, DeMarcus Lawrence remains on injured reserve
The Dallas Cowboys haven’t been at full strength all season, and the hits just keep on coming.
A day after the news that veteran right guard Zack Martin needs season-ending ankle surgery, a lengthy injury report was released after Thursday’s practice.
Of the non-participants, wide receiver CeeDee Lamb did not practice as he continues to battle a sprained AC joint in his right shoulder that he sustained on Nov. 3 against the Atlanta Falcons. Speaking with the media after the team concluded practice, Lamb said he should be good to go for Monday night’s game against the Cincinnati Bengals.
“I’ve been dealing with it for over five weeks now,” Lamb said. “It’s about going out there and sacrificing for your guys. As far as Monday goes, I’ll be out there.”
Three players other than Lamb and Martin on the active roster did not practice including rookie left tackle Tyler Guyton, who is expected to miss Monday’s game with a high ankle sprain he suffered in the team’s Thanksgiving Day win over the New York Giants. Safety Juanyeh Thomas also did not practice and is not expected to play on Monday after suffering a meniscus injury on Thanksgiving. Depth linebacker Nick Vigil missed practice with a foot injury.
While not yet back on the active roster, another notable non-participant was veteran defensive end DeMarcus Lawrence. After owner and general manager Jerry Jones said earlier in the week that it was “more than likely” that Lawrence would return from his foot injury against the Bengals, the four-time Pro Bowler did not have his 21-day practice window opened and is expected to remain on the injured reserve for at least another week. He has not played since suffering a Lisfranc injury in week four against the Giants.
Cornerback Trevon Diggs returned to practice in a limited fashion as he looks to return from a two-game absence as a result of a knee issue he has battled since the team’s week 12 loss to the Houston Texans. Tight end Jake Ferguson has cleared the concussion protocol and is on pace to return from a two-game absence after logging a full practice on Thursday. Rookie defensive end Marshawn Kneeland was also a full participant on Thursday after missing last Thursday’s game with the knee issue that kept him out for six games earlier in the season.
