Dallas Cowboys

What is Micah Parsons’ health status coming out of the bye week?

Following the early season bye week, the Dallas Cowboys returned to the Star on Monday to prepare for the remaining 11 games on the schedule, starting with Sunday’s big challenge against the San Francisco 49ers.

With the Cowboys banged up, the bye week allowed for some players to heal up in the week off including three-time Pro Bowl defensive end Micah Parsons who has missed two games with a high ankle sprain that he suffered on Sept. 26 against the New York Giants.

“He’s doing good,” head coach Mike McCarthy said. “He was in here every day [during the bye] going through rehab...I’m always appreciative and impressed with that. We saw a bunch of guys in here over the weekend. You couldn’t tell it was an off week, really, just based on the number of guys I’ve seen in the building rolling through here throughout the week. Micah is making progress.”

As for Parsons’ status on Sunday against San Francisco, it is still a wait-and-see game to determine if he will be healthy enough to play. Parsons has missed two games since his injury.

“It’s still in the air,” Parsons said. “Obviously, it’s more than just me. I got to clear it with [director of rehabilitation Britt Brown], the coaches, the head coach.”

“My hopes are always very high. I’m going to put this up to my trainers and coaching staff.”

The Cowboys are also hoping to get cornerback DaRon Bland (foot) and linebacker Eric Kendricks (calf/shoulder) back for their NFC showdown in Santa Clara on Sunday, as McCarthy said that Monday’s conditioning work will give the staff a better outlook for their availabilities going into the week.

“I’ll know more after the workout today,” McCarthy said. “And that’s a big part of this workout so it will give us a really good gauge where everybody is. We’ll have a better gauge on where they’re at. But until we really get rocking and rolling on Wednesday and Thursday, that’ll be the real information. We’ll know where those guys are [then].”
