Eagles player responds after Micah Parsons calls him out for calling the Saints pretenders

Dallas Cowboys star Micah Parson called out Philadelphia safety C. J. Gardner-Johnson on his podcast “The Edge with Micah Parsons,” after the Eagles’ defensive back made comments after beating the Saints in week 3 of the NFL season.

Following the Eagles’ 15-12 win over the Saints, the NFL Network’s Bridget Condon reported Gardner-Johnson had choice words for the team that drafted him in the 2019 NFL Draft.

“They ain’t no contenders, they’re pretenders. They have Derek Carr remember that,” Johnson said.

Parsons responded on his show by defending Carr, the Saints’ quarterback, and the Saints and painting out that Johnson is a known instigator.

“The Saints are a very good team. C. J. Gardner-Johnson said they’re pretenders,” said Parsons, “I don’t know who C. J. Gardner think he is bro. I mean we been dealing with this cat for a while, I mean we just got to be a little bit real right here. I think Derek Carr has validated himself way before CJ has ever done [anything] in a most respectful way. I’m not taking away anything but Derek Carr has been a Pro Bowl quarterback.”

Johnson fired back at Parsons on X, formerly Twitter, late Monday night saying Parsons can check out his game and that he’s accomplished more than the three-time All-Pro.

“Fam the league knows who I am (forget the narrative) @MicahhParsons11!! You can check my track record and how I overcame a lot! Won a lot more playoff games than you too my guy,” said Johnson.

Johnson is 5-4 in the playoffs over his career and has made it to the NFC Championship game in each of the past two seasons. Parsons is still looking for his second playoff with a record of 1-3 in the playoffs.
