Dallas Cowboys QB Dak Prescott explains why he’s wearing walking boot three weeks before camp
A photo of quarterback Dak Prescott wearing a walking boot making the rounds on social media has caused a frenzy among Dallas Cowboys fans on Independence Day, less than three weeks before the start of training camp.
According to Prescott, you can officially unsound the alarm.
In a text to the Star-Telegram, Prescott said, “I’m great.”
He said he was wearing the boot for precautionary reasons because “the last time I went deep sea fishing my (ankle) swole up.”
Prescott said it’s “the same ankle, same issues” he has been dealing with since fracturing his ankle in 2020, causing him to miss the final 11 games of the season.
Prescott played 16 games in 2021, missing one due to a calf strain. He played 12 games in 2022, missing five due to a fractured thumb.
And he played all 17 games in 2023 when he had the best season of his career, leading the NFL in touchdown passes and finishing second in NFL MVP voting.
Prescott has had no issues in the offseason training, participating fully in OTAs and minicamp. He also participated at Tight End University in late June.
According to the Dallas Morning News Prescott is wearing the boot because he has a sprained foot.
A Cowboys source with knowledge of the injury characterized it as ankle soreness and nothing serious. Prescott said in response to the sprained foot report, “people be reaching man.”
Prescott plans to be ready to practice without limitations when the Cowboys report to Oxnard for training camp on July 23.
