Dallas Cowboys open the season at Cleveland Browns in Tom Brady’s first game as analyst

The full 2024 NFL schedule won’t be released until Wednesday, but on Monday FOX announced its season-opening game will feature the Dallas Cowboys at the Cleveland Browns on Sept. 8 at 3:25 p.m.

It will be the first game for seven-time Super Bowl champion Tom Brady as the lead analyst on Fox and showed a little personality by taking a shot at Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott during the official announcement with Michael Strahan.

“Obviously, having the Cowboys on is a huge draw,” Brady said. “As America’s Team, that’s gonna get a little hard for me to say that all the time, understanding that they were the competition for a long time. But in this new role, I know how important the Cowboys are to this network.

“They got great story lines. Dak Prescott, let’s see if he can finally come through. Did that just slip out?”

While Prescott has just two career playoff wins, his last one against the Tampa Buccaneers in the 2023 wild card playoffs sent Brady into retirement.

But Brady is right.

The Cowboys are heading into the 2024 season with a litany of story lines.

Coach Mike McCarthy, who has led the team to three straight 12-5 seasons but yet to advance passed the divisional round in the playoffs, is heading into the final year is his contract, as is his entire coaching staff.

The same is true for the aforementioned Prescott, whose contract expires at the end of the season.

The Cowboys maintain they want to sign Prescott to a long-term deal.

But despite coming off a season in which he led the league with 36 touchdown passes and finished second in NFL MVP voting, Prescott has not had any meaningful contract talks with the Cowboys.

It appears that charge for both Prescott and McCarthy is to win big in 2024 before the team will commit to their future in Dallas.

What we know now is that is all starts in Cleveland.
