Honors continue to roll in for Dallas Cowboys, Dak Prescott. He is NFL MVP, OPOY finalist
As the dust continues to settle on another failed season for the Dallas Cowboys, the honors continue to roll in for quarterback Dak Prescott and several members of the team whose outstanding regular seasons belied the no-show performance in the season-ending playoff loss to the Green Bay Packers.
Prescott was announced as one of the five finalists for the Associated Press NFL MVP Award and the Offensive Player of the Year Award following a season in which he led the NFL with 36 touchdown passes.
Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson is the favorite to win NFL MVP. The other finalists include Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen and San Francisco 49ers running back Christian McCaffrey and quarterback Brock Purdy.
Cowboys receiver CeeDee Lamb joined Prescott as a finalist for Offensive Player of the Year. Lamb led the NFL with 135 catches for 1,749 yards and 12 touchdowns. He set Cowboys team records for catches and yards.
The other finalists are Miami Dolphins receiver Tyreek Hill, Jackson and McCaffrey.
The Cowboys doubled up with finalists for Defensive Player of the Year with cornerback DaRon Bland and edge rusher Micah Parsons among the top five vote getters. Parsons was DPOY runner up in each of the past two seasons and is now a finalist for his third straight season since joining the NFL in 2021.
Bland led the league with 9 interceptions and set an NFL record with five pick-sixes in 2023.
Parsons had a career-high 14 sacks and led the NFL with 103 quarterback pressures.
Los Angeles Raiders defensive end Maxx Crosby, Cleveland Browns defensive end Myles Garrett and Pittsburgh Steelers edge rusher T.J. Watt are the other finalists.
Award winners will be announced at the NFL Honors presented the on Feb. 8 at the Resorts World in Las Vegas.
