Dak Prescott, Dallas Cowboys want to experience the Texas Rangers championship feeling

Just like everyone else in North Texas, the Dallas Cowboys are basking in the glow of the Texas Rangers winning their first World Series title in 52 years.

Many of them didn’t come here as fans of the Rangers or even baseball fans in general.

But they are on the Rangers bandwagon now.

“Yeah, hell yeah, I mean congratulations to the Rangers, their whole organization,” quarterback Dak Prescott said. “Been a fan of them since I’ve come into Dallas. I mean not necessarily having baseball in my home state or grown up a crazy baseball fan. I followed the Braves.

“Yeah, fell in love with the Rangers. Understand the years they’ve had, tough years, but to see what they’ve done in this turnaround in these last couple of years has been awesome. Being able to go to a couple of games, the energy, the new stadium, all that’s paid off, what they’ve really put into the organization. And kudos and credit to them and yeah it was great.”

The Rangers run to the title came after the team experienced six consecutive losing seasons, including 102 losses in 2021 and 94 losses in 2022.

The Cowboys are trying to break a 28-year Super Bowl drought.

And while they know they can’t just build off the Rangers momentum as they have to go and take the title for themselves, they would like to experience a similar ending.

“Very happy for them,” receiver CeeDee Lamb said. “Would love to experience how they’re feeling. Would definitely love to end the season the way they did.”

Coach Mike McCarthy had a similar thought as the Cowboys head to Philadelphia for Sunday’s showdown against the Eagles.

And it was not lost on him that the Rangers’ journey to a title included a major league baseball record 11-straight playoffs wins on the road.

“Such an unbelievable run,” McCarthy said. “I think what really jumps out to me is winning the games on the road. Hopefully, we get a little luck from those guys there. That was a great series, a great playoff run.”

Prescott also made a point to note how the Rangers won and how they handled themselves throughout the process. He paid close attention to their statements of faith and commitments to each other.

“You know what I took most from it were the post-game interviews, whether it was the owner talking about faith, whether it was [first baseman] Nathaniel Lowe talking about the tough years that they’ve went through but being invested to this team because of the people,” Prescott said. “Just a lot of championship things that they had going on, obviously, which propelled them to win this championship. But the faith and trust in one another is something I took from it and was proud to watch them and then to listen in on the way that they handled it and celebrated their success.”
