What did Cowboys owner Jerry Jones have to say about Zack Martin’s contract dispute?
Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones refused to make a public comment about the contract dispute between the team and All-Pro guard Zack Martin.
“I’m just not gonna discuss anything about any player, any of our players agreements,” Jones said on Tuesday at a press confernce prior to the start of the Cowboys’ training camp. “We certainly have great communication with frankly everybody, and so not necessarily any surprises at all.”
Cowboys offensive lineman Zack Martin threatened to hold out over unhappiness with his contract and was not on Monday’s team-chartered flight to Oxnard, Calif., for training camp.
Martin’s contract was signed in 2018 and the All-Pro guard is underpaid relative to the other top players at the guard position.
Jones would not say whether he expected Martin to show up to training camp.
“As we start camp today, and where we are, there is nothing to concern me about anything we’re doing with contractual situations,” said Jones.
Martin will be fined $50,000 per day for training camp absences.
