Dallas Cowboys holding leading rusher Tony Pollard out of Titans game with thigh bruise
The Dallas Cowboys plan to hold running back Tony Pollard out of Thursday’s game against the Tennessee Titans, sources confirmed.
Pollard has not practiced all week due to a thigh bruise, suffered in the 40-34 victory against the Philadelphia Eagles.
The Cowboys were initially going to make Pollard’s status a game-time decision.
He will be inactive for the game.
Rookie Malik Davis will replace Pollard as the primary back working in tandem with starter Ezekiel Elliott.
Running back Qadree Ollison was elevated from the practice squad to the active roster to help bolster the position for the Titans game.
With an 11-4 mark, the Cowboys have already clinched a playoff spot, allowing them to be cautious with Pollard so he can 100 percent for the postseason.
But his presence will be missed against the Titans.
Pollard, who made the Pro Bowl for the first time in his career, leads Dallas with 1,359 yards from scrimmage and 12 total touchdowns. He has 988 yards rushing and 39 receptions for 371 yards.
Pollards needs just 12 yards rushing to top the 1000-yard mark for first time in career.
