Jerry Jones says time slipping away for a Dallas Cowboys deal with WR Odell Beckham
Less than a week after all but assuring that a deal was imminent, while also telling reporters to stand by, owner Jerry Jones is now pessimistic on the possibility of the Dallas Cowboys signing receiver Odell Beckham to help boost a playoff run.
Jones said on the radio on his radio show on 105. the Fan on Tuesday that time is slipping away on Beckham being able to join the team and make a impact in the playoffs.
“I don’t I don’t have an assessment of that,” Jones said when asked if the two sides were close to a deal. “But as of this morning, we don’t have anything but I don’t I don’t have an assessment. The reality is though that time is moving on down the road relative to being relative to playing in the playoffs. And so every day diminishes our chances of going forward.”
Beckham has not played since suffering a torn ACL in the Super Bowl last February. He had hoped to join a team for the playoffs and Cowboys were keenly interested in giving them that opportunity if he could get signed and continue his rehab with the team’s trainers to ramp for the postseason.
Jones told reporters to “stand by” for an impending deal last Wednesday.
And then on Thursday, he told USA Today that Beckham “is going to join us.”
But that was then.
Jones suddenly has no assessment of Beckham’s plans.
