Jerry Jones says Dallas Cowboys have not given up on WR Odell Beckham: “Not at all!”
A week has gone by since Odell Beckham made a visit to the Dallas Cowboys.
And while is now quiet surrounding Beckham and his impending decision on a destination — he is also considering the Buffalo Bills and New York Giants — the Cowboys haven’t given up hope of adding the three-time Pro Bowler for a possible Super Bowl run.
Asked if the Cowboys had moved on from Beckham, owner Jerry Jones was curt but emphatic.
“Not all. Not all. With a big exclamation point!,” Jones said after the Cowboys 27-23 victory against the Houston Texans. “That’s all I got on that.”
What Jones said spoke volumes, considering that Beckham has said he sees no point in playing in the regular season and the Cowboys don’t believe he will be ready to contribute until the playoffs.
Beckham has been idle since suffering a torn ACL in Super Bowl 56 last February as a member of the Los Angeles Rams.
Jones last Friday that they would like Beckham on the team sooner than later so he can get with the team’s trainers to continue his ramp up and rehab to maximize his opportunity to make impact contribution in the playoffs.
The big issue now finding a deal amenable to both sides as Beckham continues to weigh all of his options.
No team appears willing to cave to Beckham’s wishes of a lucrative multi-year deal.
Would he accept an incentive-laden, one-year offer in Dallas?
Time will tell.
But the Cowboys are still an active part of the process, per Jones.
