The Dallas Cowboys made a move Wednesday to bost their subpar receiver corps.

But it was not with the former Cleveland Browns receiver they were hoping for, at least not yet.

The Cowboys signed wide receiver Antonio Callaway to the practice squad, along with defensive end Takk McKinley and center Brock Hoffman.

The Cowboys still hoping to sign three-time Pro Bowler Odell Beckham Jr., who has spent time with the New York Giants, Browns and Los Angeles Rams.

But Beckham, who has other suitors on the free agent market, is still a week or two away from joining a team.

Callaway, a fourth-round pick of the Browns in 2018, has played in 25 career games, including 14 starts. He has 53 receptions for 695 yards and five touchdowns.

Callaway, who worked out for the Cowboys last week, hasn’t appeared in a game since 2020 when he was with the Dolphins, catching two passes in five games that season.

He attended the Indianapolis Colts’ rookie mini camp last May but was not signed. He was last with a team in 2021, spending seven months with the Kansas Chiefs in the off season before they cut him in August 2021.

The signing of McKinley may be the most intriguing move as he was a first round pick of the Atlanta Falcons when Cowboys defensive coordinator Dan Quinn was head coach in 2017.

He recorded six sacks as a rookie and and seven sacks in 2018.

In 2019, McKinley played in 14 games with 13 starts, recording 29 tackles and 3.5 sacks but suffered a shoulder injury late in the season.

He has not been the same player since.

McKinely was waived by the Falcons in November of 2020. He was claimed off waivers by the Cincinnati Bengals and San Francisco 49ers but had his contracts for both voided due to failed physicals.

McKinley was eventually claimed off waivers by the Las Vegas Raiders and was placed in injured reserve.

He signed with the Cleveland Browns in 2021 but suffered a torn Achilles in Week 14.

McKinley, who worked out for the Cowboys in training camp, joined the Tennessee Titans practice squad on Sept. 16. On Sept. 21, he signed with the Los Angeles Rams.

His contract was terminated by month later.

Can McKinley rekindle some of his old magic under Quinn?
