How the Dallas Cowboys beat the Detroit Lions 24-6

Cowboys tenth possession: Dak Prescott threw his first touchdown with less than two minutes remaining as he found a wide open Peyton Hendershot in the endzone. The score made it 24-6 with 1:55 remaining in the game.

Lions tenth possession: Detroit turned it over for a fourth time as Sam Williams picked off Jared Goff. The Cowboys took over at the Detroit 24.

Cowboys ninth possession: Ezekiel Elliot scored his second touchdown of the day as he powered in from one yard to extend the Dallas lead to 17-6 with 2:46 remaining in the game.

Lions ninth possession: Jared Goff threw his second interception of the game as he was picked off by Jourdan Lewis. Dallas takes over at their 46.

Cowboys eight possession: The Cowboys picked up a first down to get out of the shadow of their own endzone, but were forced to punt.

Lions eighth possession: Jared Goff converted a 3rd-and-14 with a strike to Kalif Raymond to close out the third quarter. Detroit was poised to take the lead after getting to the one-yard line, but the Lions fumbled on first-and-goal.

Cowboys seventh possession: Dallas squandered excellent field position as Aidan Hutchinson forced a sack on third down to force a punt.

Lions seventh possession: Detroit picked up a first down, but the drive stalled out again thanks to a sack from Sam Williams. On the ensuing punt, KaVontae Turpin returned it 52 yards to set up the Cowboys at the Detroit 41.

Cowboys sixth possession: With two big runs from Ezekiel Elliot and Tony Pollard, the Cowboys punched it in from one yard to take their first lead of the game. Elliot’s short touchdown made it 10-6 with 10:18 remaining in the third quarter.

Lions sixth possession: Trevon Diggs made a diving interception of Jared Goff to get Dallas the ball back to start the second half.

First half

Lions fifth possession After forcing the fumble, the Lions ran out the clock and took a 6-3 lead into halftime.

Cowboys fifth possession: Dallas was driving with a chance to tie or take the lead, but Noah Brown was flipped by a defender and fumbled near the Detroit 5-yard line with less than two minutes to go.

Lions fourth possession: A sack by Donovan Wilson drove Detroit back and the Lions were forced to punt.

Cowboys fourth possession: The Cowboys were unproductive and were forced to punt after failing to pick up a first down.

Lions third possession: Jared Goff led another scoring drive as Badgley hit a 53-yard field goal to put Detroit back on top 6-3 with 7:59 remaining before halftime.

Cowboys third possession: Dak Prescott completed four straight passes to lead a scoring drive as Brett Maher hit a 22-yard field goal to even the score at 3 with 12:24 remaining before halftime.

Lions second possession: Detroit gets on the board first as Michael Badgley hit a 40-yard field goal with 3:58 remaining in the first quarter to put the Lions ahead 3-0.

Cowboys second possession: Prescott completed his first pass of the day with a seven yard completion to Jake Ferguson, but Dallas was forced to punt again.

Lions first possession: The Lions picked up a first down, but eventually punted after avoiding a costly fumble.

Dak’s first possession: The Cowboys came out aggressive with a play action bootleg for Prescott. He was unable to connect with an open Noah Brown. Dallas went three and out as Prescott was sacked by No. 1 pick Aidan Hutchinson.
