Dallas Cowboys’ Dak Prescott gave workout before Eagles game an “A” grade, return coming
Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott was inactive for the fifth straight game in Sunday’s match up against the Philadelphia Eagles due to a fractured thumb suffered in the season-opening loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Backup Cooper Rush, who has led the Cowboys to four straight victories, got the start against the Eagles in what might be his last one in place of Prescott.
Prescott, who participated in practice last week for the first time since undergoing surgery to have a metal plate inserted in his hand, ramped up his workout before the Eagles game.
With coach Mike McCarthy looking on, he took snaps from center for the first time and threw for about 20 minutes. He had about 50 throws, showing plenty zip on the ball on a variety of routes.
Prescott was still not satisfied.
He told Cowboys radio sideline reporter Kristi Scales, “I feel like an ‘A’ right now, but I want to get to an ‘A-plus’”.
Prescott could return for next Sunday’s game against the Detroit Lions.
McCarthy said he wants Prescott to have a full week of practice before returning to the starting role.
Also inactive against the Eagles were cornerback Nahshon Wright, safety Markquese Bell, linebacker Devin Harper, tackle Matt Waletzko and tight end Dalton Schultz.
