Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott is good to go for Sunday’s season opener against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers after giving the team a brief scare when he complained of discomfort in his surgically-repaired right ankle and left practice on Thursday.

Coach Mike Mike McCarthy and owner Jerry Jones said the team thoroughly checked out Prescott’s ankle, including all the normally medical testing.

“He’s going to be a full participant (in practice) today and tomorrow. I don’t have any concerns,” McCarthy said

Said Jones: “(Dak) had some discomfort there, but it was checked out thoroughly...nothing to it.”

Prescott is almost two years moved from suffering a compound fracture and dislocation of his right ankle, causing him to miss last 11 games of the 2020 and requiring two surgeries.

He had no issues with the ankle in 2021 but it will raise alarms with the team any time he expresses discomfort with the ankle.

Prescott blamed on switching shoes for practice Thursday. He had planned on wearing a new pair of Air Jordan 11 cleats in the game on Sunday and was trying to break them in. But the fit was different. They were too tight, causing discomfort.

“Switching shoes today probably wasn’t the best idea,” Prescott said Thursday. “We’re good to go. Promise that I promise you I’m great.”

He plans to go back to the Jordan 1s he has been wearing in training camp and the preseason.
