Dallas Cowboys open 2022 season in prime time vs. Bucs. Here’s the rest of the schedule.
It’s long been known who the Dallas Cowboys were going to face in the 2022 season, as the schedule of opponents was set at the end of 2021.
And the Cowboys will have the easiest schedule in the NFL, based on 2021 records.
The Cowboys got their official marching orders when the NFL released the full schedule Thursday night and it’s a slate of games that continues to befit a franchise known as America’s Team.
In addition to the annual Thanksgiving Day affair, which will be against the New York Giants on Nov. 24, the Cowboys have five prime-time games, including three on NBC’s Sunday’s Night Football beginning with the season opener at AT&T Stadium against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
It’s a season-opening rematch for the Cowboys, who began 2021 at Tampa Bay in the NFL’s season kickoff game on Thursday night.
The Cowboys lost a 31-29 shootout in what was Dak Prescott’s first game since suffering a severe injury ankle that ended his 2020 season after just five games. After the game, he told Buccaneers quarterback Tom Brady he would see him again.
Prescott was right. Just one year later, as the Cowboys face the same opening opponent in back to back years for the fifth time in franchise history.
The Cowboys play at the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday night on Oct. 15 and host the Indianapolis Colts on Sunday night on Dec. 4.
They play at the New York Giants on ESPN’s Monday Night Football in Week 3 on Sept. 26. And they play at the Tennessee Titans on Thursday night, Dec. 29 on Amazon Prime.
Cowboys got a gift of sorts with a Christmas Eve game against the Eagles at AT&T Stadium on Saturday Dec. 24 at 3:25 pm.
The Cowboys open the season with back-to-back home games for the first time since 1990 as they face Joe Burrow and the Cincinnati Bengals in Week 2.
Another big highlight of the schedule is a Week 10 matchup at the Green Bay Packers on Nov. 13 in a homecoming game for coach Mike McCarthy.
It will be his first chance to face his old Packers team since he took the Cowboys’ job in January 2020.
The game will be at 3:25 p.m. and aired on Fox as “America’s Game of the Week.“
McCarthy coached the Packers from 2006 until he was fired midway through the 2018 season.
