Dallas Cowboys’ Trevon Diggs calls for Madden NFL to upgrade DeMarcus Lawrence’s ratings
Dallas Cowboys cornerback Trevon Diggs is a Madden NFL player and he has a bone to pick.
Diggs thinks the venerable video game company needs to update its ratings for teammate DeMarcus Lawrence after the defensive end returned an interception 40 yards for a touchdown in Sunday’s 56-14 blowout win over the Washington Football Team.
Lawrence didn’t just run for the score, he stiff-armed a would-be tackler and raced down the sideline past seemingly faster offensive players. He also had one of the five sacks the Cowboys had on the night.
“He’s fire. He’s really fast,” Diggs said. “Madden needs to change his rating. I think they’ve got him at an 80-something. He’s definitely a 90 speed on Madden. Definitely need to fix that. And he’s got a celebration, he’s got jukes. All of that needs to go up. Because I play with Cowboys [players] on Madden. I need him running, chasing after people.”
While they’re at it, Diggs said his Madden ratings need a boost, too. After all, Diggs collected his NFL-leading 11th interception Sunday at AT&T Stadium.
“I need to be like a 97 speed, 98 catching, 98 jump-ball,” Diggs proposed for his upgraded Madden ratings. “Hell, I need an x-factor, too.”
Lawrence agreed with Diggs’ suggestion.
“Yeah, you know Madden has been slacking the last couple years on my speed, I feel like they got the picture tonight,” he said.
Lawrence was given the game ball by head coach Mike McCarthy after the win. He gave it to his son, who attended the game.
“You know, kids these days, they’d rather stay home and play Fortnite all day, but he decided to come to the game today so it was pretty special for me to score the pick-six and give the game ball to him at the end of the game,” Lawrence said.
After dad’s performance Sunday, perhaps son will be playing Madden on Monday. And with updated ratings for Lawrence and Diggs.
