Dallas Cowboys WR CeeDee Lamb ruled out, two coaches in COVID protocol vs. Raiders
The Dallas Cowboys were without their top two receivers Thanksgiving Day against the Las Vegas Raiders.
According to a source, CeeDee Lamb passed the NFL’s concussion protocols but was ruled out for the game by the Cowboys for precautionary reasons. Lamb suffered the concussion in the first half last week against the Kansas City Chiefs.
The Cowboys didn’t want to the take the chance of Lamb suffering a second concussion four days apart and putting him at risk of greater danger.
Receiver Amari Cooper will miss his second game because of COVID-19.
The absence of Lamb and Cooper left the Cowboys with Michael Gallup, Cedrick Wilson and Noah Brown as the most experienced receivers on the roster.
They will need to be much better than they were in last Sunday’s 19-9 loss to the Chiefs as neither stepped up. They were plagued by dropped passes and were unable to get open against tough man-to-man coverage.
The Raiders will employ a similar tactic.
The Cowboys also announced before Thursday’s 3:30 p.m. game that offensive line coach Joe Philbin assistant strength and conditioning coach Kendall Smith have been placed in the NFL’s COVID protocol and will miss today’s game.
Assistant offensive line coach Jeff Blasko will fill in for Philbin.
