Cowboys offensive tackle Chaz Green underwent hip surgery Wednesday, which will limit him at the start of training camp and possibly land him on the physically unable to perform (PUP) list to start the season.
Owner Jerry Jones made that announcement as the Cowboys went through their second minicamp practice at AT&T Stadium.
“Rather than take a chance on it being still there and lingering, or exacerbating in training camp, we thought go ahead and get it,” Jones said. “Whether or not he’s a PUP situation for the year or not remains to be seen on his rehab. It’s very possible for him to come back and be a part of this team.”
The Cowboys selected Green in the third round of this year’s draft, and expected the Florida product to compete for the swing tackle spot that opened when Jermey Parnell left in free agency.
