Dallas Cowboys defensive back says McCarthy allowing players more freedom than Garrett

Was Dallas Cowboys’ cornerback Anthony Brown throwing shade at former head coach Jason Garrett?

Maybe.

The 26-year-old defensive back is entering his fifth season with the Cowboys and he’s enjoying his first training camp under Mike McCarthy.

“So far, it’s a totally different environment walking in the building now,” Brown said after Friday’s practice at The Star in Frisco. “Kind of a like a breath of fresh air when you walk in right now with coach McCarthy coming in.”

What’s the big difference between McCarthy and Garrett?

“The players have a lot more leeway to say what we want to,” Brown said. “He gives us more opportunity to express ourselves, I would say.”
