Dallas Cowboys to get marching orders Thursday when 2020 NFL schedule is released
Hey, Cowboys fans, the wait for the release of the 2020 NFL schedule is almost over.
Come Thursday night, you’ll know when and where your team will begin the Mike McCarthy era. The NFL will release the 2020 schedule on the NFL Network, the NFL app and NFL.com at 7 p.m.
However, due to the continued uncertainty surrounding the coronavirus pandemic, there is still a question as to how many fans, if any, will be in attendance at games.
The Miami Dolphins announced on Monday a plan that they would admit no more than 15,000 fans, about 25 percent of capacity, at their home games so social distancing rules could be maintained. The Cowboys, who drew an average of nearly 91,000 per game at AT&T Stadium last season, have not yet put forth a plan on fan attendance.
Opponents for all 32 teams, which are partially based on how teams finished last season, were previously released on Dec. 30, 2019.
The Cowboys will have home games against the Arizona Cardinals, Atlanta Falcons, Cleveland Browns, Pittsburgh Steelers and San Francisco 49ers, as well as NFC East division foes New York Giants, Philadelphia Eagles and Washington Redskins.
Their non-divisional road games will be against the Baltimore Ravens, Cincinnati Bengals, Los Angeles Rams, Minnesota Vikings and Seattle Seahawks.
The preseason schedules will be also be released Thursday.
So far, all indications are that the NFL plans to start the season on-time, with the Cowboys opening the preseason against the Steelers in the Pro Football Hall of Fame Game in Canton, Ohio, on Aug. 6.
According to ESPN, the NFL has discussed contingency plans with the NFL Players Association in the event that COVID-19 derails its typical regular-season plans, including a scenario where the season is delayed until mid-October along with possibly playing in empty stadiums.
