Dallas Cowboys to sign 15 undrafted rookies, largely to fill holes on defense

The Dallas Cowboys are adding 15 undrafted free agents to their rookie class of seven NFL draft picks.

The players have agreed to terms with the Cowboys, but have yet to sign contracts.

The list includes four defensive end/edge rushers as the Cowboys tried to address a need they didn’t fully resolve in the draft. The Cowboys hoped to get pass rush help at the top of the draft but didn’t grab Utah defensive end Bradle Anae until the fifth round.

The developmental pass rushers are led by James Madison defensive end Ron’Dell Carter, who received $145,000 in total guarantees — $125,000 of guaranteed base salary and a $20,000 signing bonus — to join Cowboys.

Carter had 12 sacks and 27 tackles for losses in 2019.

The others at the position are Kansas defensive end Azur Kamara, North Texas defensive end Ladarius Hamilton and Alabama-Birmingham defensive end Garrett Marino.

The undrafted additions also include TCU running backs Darius Anderson and Sewo Oloniula, who would move to fullback, Texas A&M receiver Kenrick Rogers, Utah linebacker Francis Bernard, South Carolina running back Rico Dowdle, Mississippi State wide receiver Stephen Guidry, Illinois State safety Luther Kirk, Michigan tight end Sean McKeon, Rhode Island wide receiver Aaron Parker, Texas Tech offensive tackle Terence Steele and Portland State tight end Charlie Taumoepeau.
