Cowboys owner Jerry Jones is richest person in Dallas, Forbes says. But not Fort Worth.

Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones is the richest man in Dallas, according to Forbes.

With a value of $8.4 billion, Jones passed banker Andy Beal ($7.9 billion) for the top spot among Dallasites. He ranks as the 181st-richest person in the world, owning the most valuable sports franchise in the world.

But the wealthiest Texan distinction goes to Walmart heiress and Fort Worth resident Alice Walton ($54.4 billion). Walton is the ninth wealthiest person in the world.

Fort Worth’s Robert Bass is checks in at No. 383 with $4.6 billion.

The world’s wealthiest person is Amazon’s Jeff Bezos at $113 billion followed by Microsoft’s Bill Gates ($98 billion).

As far as other area sports owners, Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban is the 454th wealthiest in the world at $4.3 billion. Texas Rangers co-owner Ray Davis is No. 1,267 with a value at $1.7 billion.
