Dallas Cowboys land two on NFL’s All-Decade Team for the 2010s
The Dallas Cowboys landed two players on the NFL’s All-Decade Team for the 2010s.
Left tackle Tyron Smith and right guard Zack Martin were named to the team, which was released on Monday.
The NFL did not break it down into first- and second-team honors as it did for previous decades.
Smith and Martin were worthy selections.
Smith, the No. 9 overall pick in the 2011 NFL Draft, has established himself as one of the top left tackles in the game. He’s been named first-team All-Pro twice, and second-team all-Pro twice with seven Pro Bowl appearances.
Other offensive tackles to make the team include Joe Thomas, Jason Peters and Joe Staley.
Martin, the No. 16 overall pick in the 2014 NFL Draft, has been named All-Pro every year of his career (four first-team, two second-team) and has made six straight Pro Bowls.
Other offensive guards to make the team include Jahri Eevans, Logan Mankins and Marshal Yanda.
Making the All-Decade Team has usually been viewed as a precursor to making the Hall of Fame, although that could change with the NFL refusing to distinguish between first- and second-team in the 2010s.
The All-Decade Team was headlined by longtime New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady, who was one of eight unanimous selections. Other unanimous picks included running back Adrian Peterson, tackle Joe Thomas, guard Marshal Yanda, defensive lineman J.J. Watt, defensive tackle Aaron Donald, linebacker Von Miller and kicker Justin Tucker.
