‘Pay him like a grown man.’ Talking heads (including Snoop Dogg?) react to Cowboys franchising Dak
The Dallas Cowboys have slapped the exclusive franchise tag on Dak Prescott and the talking heads on sports television were all over it. (What else is there to talk about right now?)
That includes Snoop Dogg, who called into ESPN’s “First Take” to complain about the Cowboys’ move. He thinks the Cowboys are underselling Prescott’s value.
“Do we want to keep treating him like the little boy they thought he was,” Snoop said via phone, taking what he perceives as the Cowboys viewpoint. “He’s a grown man. Pay him like a grown man before he shakes, rattles and rolls because if he leaves, y’all aren’t going to the Super Bowl until 3000 or something.”
On Twitter, Skip Bayless disagreed with the move, but for different reasons. Bayless thinks it will sow distrust between Prescott and the organization. His “Undisputed” co-host, Shannon Sharpe, thinks Prescott deserves a bigger deal.
“I do not like franchise tags, never have, never will,” he said in a video posted on Twitter. “Because they always end up going the wrong direction. It’s showing that the team does not completely believe in the quarterback and it’s showing that the quarterback doesn’t now trust the team. There will be underlining tension and bitterness and maybe some paranoia on both sides.”
Colin Cowherd doesn’t think Prescott deserves to be paid like an elite quarterback.
The Cowboys have until July 15 to sign Prescott to a long-term deal.
