Dallas Cowboys free agents — and major stars — run deep among top available players

The Dallas Cowboys have nearly 30 free agents to deal with this spring, including many of the team’s biggest stars.

NFL.com experts Gregg Rosenthal and Chris Wesseling include seven Cowboys among their top 101 free agents across the league, including three in the top 10.

At the very top, quarterback Dak Prescott ranks No. 1, who they point out spent the “2019 season’s first three months on the periphery of the MVP race while leading the one of the league’s most productive offenses.”

Receiver Amari Cooper ranks No. 3 and is applauded for being one of the main reasons Prescott tops the list. His arrival via trade during the 2018 season gave Prescott a true No. 1 receiver and helped turn around a fledgling Dallas offense.

Cornerback Byron Jones ranks No. 9 and looks like the odd star out with Dallas spending all the “extra” money to keep Prescott and Cooper, according to NFL.com.

Among Dallas’ free agents, 18 are on the defensive side of the ball, including two potentially big priorities in defensive ends Robert Quinn and Michael Bennett and defensive tackle Maliek Collins — who are all on the list.

Teams can begin negotiate contracts with players starting March 16 and can officially sign a new contract beginning 3 p.m. March 18, the day the new league year begins.
