‘Slam dunk for Dak Prescott.’ Media reaction to Mike McCarthy coaching Dallas Cowboys.
The Dallas Cowboys have hired Mike McCarthy as their next head coach and the reaction has mostly been positive from media members from around the country.
Even Whataburger got into the news, welcoming McCarthy to Texas.
Everyone seems to have a take on the move, which according to reports, will be officially announced by the team in a day or two.
Great hire by the Cowboys! Had Mike McCarthy as my QB coach for 4yrs in KC and he was the best. Organized, prepared, detail oriented and a great leader! No one should be more excited than Dak Prescott.

So the Cowboys could be replacing Jason Garrett with Mike McCarthy and Rod Marinelli with Mike Nolan, while possibly keeping Kellen Moore and Kris Richard in their positions (parameters of roles TBD).

Well, that's one way to do change.
I hope no #Packers fans are wishing ill will upon Mike McCarthy today. While I, too, hate the Cowboys, MM deserves a head coaching job in the NFL, and it's not exactly like he quit the job in Green Bay.

What does Mike McCarthy heading to the #Cowboys mean to his former players?
— Lily Zhao (@LilySZhao) January 6, 2020
Mason Crosby: "I think he's going to be a good fit."
Tramon Williams: "I was happy for him like a kid at a candy store inside... he deserves it." #Packers pic.twitter.com/6v0GjzVLMn
Mike McCarthy may have reached a few coaching epiphanies in his year away from the game, but he never seemed to learn this vital lesson. He is a known lead-sitter ... as if victory will hatch and spring to life if he just squats over the ball for a quarter and a half pic.twitter.com/OVQX1jt6bW

"The Cowboys wanted someone who was an NFL head coach... Mike McCarthy has never had an Ezekiel Elliott type guy. They're going to feed him like crazy." — @JayGlazer pic.twitter.com/f84dDkRHaD

I will feel 100 times better about the Mike McCarthy hiring if he keeps Kellen Moore and allows him to design/call the offense.
— Marcus Mosher (@Marcus_Mosher) January 6, 2020
If that were the case, I would LOVE this hire.
Choosing Mike McCarthy is a lot like getting Taco Bell late at night. You're kind of desperate and there's not a lot of great options. It's reliable, yet unspectacular. And you're biggest hope is that you don't get violently ill.

The Mike McCarthy hire is a slam dunk for Dak Prescott. But now I’m really interested to see what his staff looks like. Marvin Lewis as defensive coordinator would be a dream.

Only 3 active head coaches have a better career win pct than Mike McCarthy (.618)

Mike McCarthy was one of the best-case scenario hires for Dak Prescott.

If this franchise believes Prescott is the quarterback to lead them to a Super Bowl, McCarthy is the kind of hire they make. Love it.
I have, and I think it's a pretty good fit. The year I was fired, McCarthy was collecting change at a Pennsylvania Turnpike toll booth, begged Mike Gottfried for a volunteer position at Pitt, got the gig and rose to the top of his profession. He'll get the most out of this team. https://t.co/mrpYCUHftb

Welcome to the @dallascowboys Mike McCarthy! It’s better in Texas. And Warmer. And Whataburger
— Whataburger (@Whataburger) January 6, 2020
Here's something about Mike McCarthy that should encourage #DallasCowboys fans: Remember how down many people were about Andy Reid when it unraveled in Philadelphia. What Reid needed was a change and a fresh start. Good, successful coaches can have great second lives in the #NFL.

By the end of his #Packers tenure, Mike McCarthy grew frustrated with the inactivity of GM Ted Thompson. He felt he didn’t have enough players. This week, two GMs have said the #Cowboys have one of the most talented rosters in the NFL. McCarthy has players now.
