Newhouse family promoting heart health

Former Dallas Cowboys great Robert Newhouse passed away last summer at the age of 64 after battling heart disease.

His family, led by son Rodd Newhouse, are keeping his memory alive while also trying to promote heart health with the establishment of the 44Strong Foundation in his honor.

Rodd Newhouse and company have organized a HeartStrong 5K & 1 Mile Fun Run promoting heart health on Sunday at Taste of Dallas in Fair Park. It is sponsored by Texas Health Resources,

Former stars of the NFL and the Newhouse family will walk in honor of Robert Newhouse's legacy. Proceeds will benefit the 44Strong Foundation and American Heart Association.

Newhouse played 12 seasons for the Cowboys (1972-83) before working for the organization in player programs and alumni relations after retirement.

The HeartStrong 5K and 1 Mile Fun Run begins at 8 a.m.
