How much is No. 1 worth in the NFL? Kyler Murray is now laughing at that MLB bonus
Much was made of Kyler Murray having to return his $4.6 million signing bonus to the Oakland Athletics after deciding he wanted to play football instead.
It was big roll of the dice for Murray, despite his impeccable record at Oklahoma, which included the 2018 Heisman Trophy. He had to forfeit the A’s bonus after they took him 9th overall in the 2018 MLB draft.
Murray bet on himself in football and Thursday night it paid off. He’ll receive about a $23.5 signing bonus from the Arizona Cardinals after they selected him No. 1 overall in the first round of the NFL draft Thursday.
According to Spotrac, Murray is set to sign a four-year, fully guaranteed contract for $35 million. Spotrac.com tracks professional contracts, salaries and salary cap management.
