Former Cowboys kicker Dan Bailey signs with Super Bowl contender in NFC, per report
Former Dallas Cowboys kicker Dan Bailey has signed with the Minnesota Vikings.
The news was first reported by ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
The Vikings cut kickers Daniel Carlson and Zane Gonzalez to make the roster move. Carlson missed several key field goals in his team’s 29-29 tie with the Green Bay Packers on Sunday.
Bailey made 88.2 percent of his field goals (186-of-211) during his eight-year run with the Cowboys. The veteran was one of the most accurate place kickers in the history of the NFL.
However, the Cowboys’ front office elected to cut Bailey just before the start of the regular season.
Bailey was replaced by Brett Maher. The rookie missed his first career attempt in the Cowboys’ 16-8 loss to the Carolina Panthers.
But during his team’s 20-13 win over the New York Giants, Maher converted two of his three field goal attempts.
