Lightning clears field, delays Dallas Cowboys’ season opener at Carolina Panthers

The Dallas Cowboys and Carolina Panthers will open the season today but the game will be delayed at least 10 minutes by lightning.

Bank of America Stadium was cleared of all fans and a small group of Panthers players working out about and hour and a half as a rainstorm brought thunder and lightning into downtown Charlotte.

As of 2:30 p.m. (CT), about an hour from the scheduled start time, the stadium field was completely empty of fans, personnel and players.
